1
Open webAI
You land on Chat: a prompt box with your recent conversations close at hand. Chat is the headline destination in the left sidebar.
2
Type a prompt and send
Your reply streams in. While it runs, Chat can show the model’s thinking and which tools were selected. Every conversation is kept as a thread you can return to from History in the sidebar.
3
Turn web search on or off
Click + in the prompt window and use the Online toggle. The setting stays until you change it.When Online is off (the default), Chat stays in offline mode. When you have a downloaded model, replies are generated on your machine. When Online is on, webAI searches the internet for current information and includes citations in the answer. That search sends your query off your device. See the Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.
4
Attach a knowledge base
Click + in the prompt window, open Knowledges, and select a knowledge base. The base stays attached for the whole conversation. Chat can then retrieve from those documents. You can also start + New knowledge from that menu. Create and manage bases in Knowledge Manager from Applications (> More in the sidebar).
5
Apply a skill
Click + in the prompt window and select a skill from the + menu. It applies to that message and shapes how the assistant approaches the reply.
