Knowledge Manager is where you build knowledge bases your chats and personas can draw on. Open the Knowledge Manager tab in the left sidebar (below Artifacts) to create bases, add documents, and check status on the Overview tab.

What you can do

  • Create a knowledge base with + New Knowledge.
  • Upload or drag documents into a knowledge base so they can be retrieved in chat.
  • Review Overview for embedding models, local service status, and a documents summary.
  • Attach a knowledge base when you create a persona.
  • Use a knowledge base from Chat via the + menu.

Create a knowledge base

  1. Open the Knowledge Manager tab in the left sidebar.
  2. Click + New Knowledge.
  3. Name the knowledge base and open it from the list.
From the Knowledge Manager home you can also search and browse the knowledge bases you’ve already created.

Add documents

Open a knowledge base, then click Upload Files or drag PDFs and other supported files into the documents area. When you add documents, webAI prepares them for retrieval: they are chunked, embedded, and indexed so Chat and personas can use that content when you select the knowledge base. See the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

Overview

On a knowledge base, open the Overview tab for a quick status of that base:
  • Embedding models: Choose which embedding model the knowledge base uses. A default model is available; you can also enable a vision-capable model when you need it.
  • Documents: See a summary of ingested documents, open the full list, or upload more files from here.

Use a knowledge base

Attach to a persona

When you create a persona in the guided wizard, or when you edit an existing persona, use the Knowledge base control to attach an existing base, or click + New to create one. See Personas.

Use in Chat

In Chat, click + in the prompt window, open Knowledges (knowledge bases), and select a base for that message. You can also start + New knowledge from that menu.
