You already have the source material. You want a short reading, not a blank-page draft. Attach files on Home, or connect Slack and add it to a Persona, then ask. Keep the result with Edit in Docs if a document appears.

Attach files

1

Open Home

Click Home in the left sidebar. Chat is on the right.
2

Attach the source

Click the paperclip to Attach files or images, or drop a file onto the composer. You can attach one document at a time, or drop a folder when you want those files indexed. See Attach a file.
3

Ask for a short reading

Send a prompt that names the attached files, such as Summarize the attached notes into a one-page brief. Click the send icon.
4

Keep the result

Copy copies the finished reply. Edit in Docs opens a document you can keep working on. You are done when Chat has used your material. Finding that document later is on Artifacts.

Connect Slack and summarize

Use this path when the source lives in Slack instead of a file you can attach.
1

Connect Slack

Open Settings → Connectors. Click Connect on Slack, and finish sign-in. The row shows Connected when it works.
2

Add it to a Persona

Click Personas in the left sidebar. On the list, open the card menu and click Edit. Or open the Persona, then click the settings icon. Click Abilities. Under Connectors, click Add, then Add on Slack. If Slack still needs a login, its row shows Connect instead. See How to add a connector to a Persona.
3

Ask for a reading

Open Home or that Persona, and ask it to summarize unread messages or a channel. You do not type the tool name. The model picks the call. A summary reads from Slack. If the Persona tries to post, webAI asks you first unless you set Slack to Always allow.
4

Keep the result

Copy copies the finished reply. Edit in Docs opens a document you can keep working on.
Cloud connectors need a model of 8B parameters or larger. Gemma 4 E2B still qualifies. Searching Slack sends that work to Slack. See the Privacy Policy.
The calls Slack can make are on Slack.
