Connectors is where you connect accounts and servers so your Personas can act across them. You also choose what each connector may change and review the tool calls that ran. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings, then Connectors.

Connect an account

Sign in to Slack, Brex, an Apple app, or another service.

Choose what it may change

Turn a connector’s writes off, or choose whether each one asks first.

Add a custom server

Bring tools from an MCP server you choose.

Review tool actions

See which tools ran, and whether they worked.

Connect an account

1

Open Connectors

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings, then Connectors.
2

Connect

Under Tools or Apple native tools, click Connect on the service you want. Finish the sign-in, token, or macOS permission prompt that opens.
3

Check the row

The row shows Connected when it works. Click the row to see the account it uses and its Write action setting.
4

Add it to a Persona

Connecting does not add the connector to every Persona. Open Persona settings, click Abilities, and add it under Connectors. See How to add a connector to a Persona.
Connectors are in the desktop app. The Tools, Apple native tools, and Custom Servers sections need a Tier 2 or higher Mac. See System requirements.
A connector does nothing until a Persona has it. Each Persona has its own list under Abilities.
Data connectors and Context sources appear when they are turned on for your account.

Writes and approval

Open a connected row to see what the connector can do. A connector that can send, create, change, or trade has a Write action switch. It is on until you turn it off. With it off, that connector’s writes are not offered to the model. Below the switch, choose how writes run:
  • Always ask is the default. webAI asks you to approve each write before it runs.
  • Always allow runs that connector’s writes without asking.
Read-only connectors, such as Brex and Hugging Face, have no Write action switch.

Add a custom server

Custom Servers lets you connect any MCP compatible server. Click Add server, fill in the server, then click Add server again to save it. A custom server is third-party code you choose to run or connect to. See Custom MCP server for the fields and the controls on each server.

Disconnect

Open a connected row and click the trash icon. Confirm Disconnect. webAI removes that connector’s saved credentials from this device. Chat can no longer use that connector until you connect it again.

Action history

Recent tool actions lists tool calls on this device. Each row shows when it ran, the tool name, Read or Write, and the result: Success, Failure, Rejected, or Cancelled. Tools without an account can appear here too, such as a web search. Click Clear to empty the list. That does not disconnect any connector.

Common questions

Open Settings → Connectors, click Connect on the connector you want, and finish any sign-in or permission prompt. The row shows Connected when it works. See Connectors for what each one can do.
By default, yes. Always ask is the default, so webAI asks you to approve each write before it runs. If you choose Always allow for a connector, its writes run without asking. Turn Write action off to stop offering that connector's writes.
Yes. Find Custom Servers and click Add server. A custom server is third-party code you choose to run or connect to, and it handles what you send it. See Custom MCP server.
Recent tool actions lists recent tool calls from this computer so you can see what ran. Click Clear to empty it.
See Connectors for requirements and how to add one to a Persona. Each connector page in that section lists the calls Chat may make.
