MCP
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the shared format connectors use so a model can call tools. Without a connector, a Persona answers from what you type and from its instructions. When you add a connector, that Persona can also read or act in that service, so replies can use context from your accounts. You ask in Chat. The model picks the MCP call. You do not type the call name.Built-in tools and custom servers
Some connectors need no account. You add them to a Persona the same way. You can also connect an MCP server you choose.Web search
Let a Persona search the web and cite what it finds.
Local files
Let a Persona find files on this Mac and quote them.
Custom MCP server
Add tools from a remote server or a local command.
Requirements
Connectors are desktop-only. Account connectors and custom servers need a Tier 2 or higher Mac. See System requirements. Cloud connectors need a model of 8B parameters or larger. Gemma 4 E2B still qualifies. Apple apps run on this Mac and do not use that size gate. Cloud connectors send that work to the connected service. Apple connectors use this computer’s data, and macOS may ask for Automation, Full Disk Access, or other permissions the first time. See the Privacy Policy.Writes and approval
A write is a call that sends, creates, changes, cancels, or trades. Each connector that can write has a Write action switch in Settings → Connectors. It is on until you turn it off. With it off, that connector’s writes are not offered. Below the switch, Always ask is the default. webAI asks you to approve each write before it runs. Always allow runs that connector’s writes without asking. How to add a connector to a Persona
1
Connect the account
If the connector needs a login, open Settings → Connectors, click Connect on that row, and finish sign-in. The row shows Connected when it works.
2
Open Persona settings
Click Personas in the left sidebar. On the list, open the card menu and click Edit. Or open the Persona, then click the settings icon. Persona settings opens.
3
Add the connector
Click Abilities. Under Connectors, click Add. Search for the connector, then click Add on its row.
4
Sign in if it still needs it
A connector that needs a login shows Connect instead of Add. Click Connect to sign in. Some connectors, such as DocuSign and Harvey, open Settings → Connectors so you can finish setup there. The next message can use the connector once it is added and connected.
Open a connector page in the sidebar to see the calls it may make. Every call is logged under Recent tool actions in Settings → Connectors.

Not unless you choose Always allow for that connector. Always ask is the default, so webAI asks you to approve each write before it runs. Always allow runs that connector's writes without asking. Turn Write action off in Settings → Connectors to stop offering its writes.
