# Ask on Home

> Send a prompt from Home and keep the reply, a pinned view, or a document.

You want a first result you can keep. Open **Home**, send a prompt, and use what comes back in Chat and on the canvas. A comparison, plan, or document can open in the center when it helps.

**1. Open Home**

Click **Home** in the left sidebar. The canvas greets you. Type in Chat on the right.

**2. Write the prompt**

Type what you want. It does not have to be a question. You can also click a starter on the canvas.

**3. Send**

Click the send icon. The reply writes into Chat as it arrives. If a view helps, it appears on the canvas.

> If Chat does not reply, open [AI](https://developers.webai.com/settings/ai.md) and click **Apply** so a model is loaded.

**4. Keep the work**

**Copy** copies the finished reply. **Pin to canvas** keeps a view while newer ones still arrive. **Edit in Docs** opens a document you can keep working on. You are done when you have a copied reply, a pinned view, or a document you can keep working on.

A [Persona](https://developers.webai.com/using-webai/personas.md) is a saved setup you can hand a prompt to. Leave the icon on **Auto** if you want webAI to choose who answers.
