Build Your First AI Application

This guide will get you from zero to running your first AI application on webAI. By the end, you'll have a working AI chatbot running entirely on your device—no cloud connection required.

Check System Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Mac: macOS 15+ (Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4 recommended)

  • RAM: 8GB minimum (16GB recommended)

  • Storage: 10GB available space

  • Network: Internet connection for initial setup

Install webAI

Note: webAI is currently in development with a public download coming soon. Join our Discord community or sign up for updates to be notified when it becomes available.

Download and Install

  1. Download the webAI Installer from (coming soon!)

  2. Launch the installer and click "Install Both" to get:

  3. Navigator: Your AI development environment

  4. Companion: Your AI chat interface

  5. Click "Launch Navigator" when installation completes

Create Your Account

  1. Complete the account form:

  2. Email address

  3. Password

  4. Organization name (optional)

  5. Click "Create Account & Sign In"

  6. Wait for setup to complete (dependencies will install automatically)

Success Check: You should see the Navigator interface with Featured Templates.

Build Your First AI Application

Choose a Template

  1. Find "Featured Templates" in Navigator

  2. Click on "LLM Chatbot" template

  3. Click "Open" to load it

You'll see Navigator's visual workflow with connected elements—don't worry about understanding everything yet.

Deploy Your Application

  1. Click the "Run" button (upper-right corner)

  2. Wait for model download (first time takes 2-5 minutes)

  3. Look for green status indicator when ready

Success Check: Green status means your AI model is running locally.

Chat with Your AI

Open Companion

  1. Launch Companion (installed in Step 2)

  2. Sign in with the same Navigator credentials

  3. Wait for your model to appear in the left sidebar

Start Chatting

  1. Click on your deployed model (should have a green status dot)

  2. Type your first message: "Hello! What can you help me with?"

  3. Press Enter and watch your local AI respond

Congratulations! You've built and deployed your first AI application with webAI.
