# Slack

> Read and send workspace messages, DMs, and search.

Read and send workspace messages, DMs, and search. Posting, marking read, and uploading files need **Write action** on for Slack in [Settings → Connectors](https://developers.webai.com/settings/connectors.md).

You ask in Chat. The model picks the tool. Writes wait for your approval unless you set Slack to **Always allow**. Tool names show in **Recent tool actions**. You do not type them.

## MCP calls

**slack\_search\_messages** `read`

Searches the workspace and returns matching messages (author, channel, text, timestamp).

**slack\_get\_channel\_history** `read`

Returns recent messages in one channel, group, or DM.

**slack\_list\_channels** `read`

Lists workspace channels, optionally matching a name.

**slack\_list\_user\_conversations** `read`

Lists channels and DMs you belong to, most recently updated first.

**slack\_lookup\_users** `read`

Resolves a person to Slack user id, name, and username.

**slack\_post\_message** `write`

Posts a message to a channel or DM.

**slack\_reply\_in\_thread** `write`

Replies in an existing thread.

**slack\_list\_unread** `read`

Lists unread DMs and recent mentions of you.

**slack\_mark\_read** `write`

Moves a DM's read marker.

**slack\_upload\_file** `write`

Uploads files or images to a channel or person.

**triage\_scan** `read`

Groups what is waiting in Slack DMs and mentions (or a sample inbox).

**triage\_propose** `read`

Suggests actions for those groups. webAI does not change those groups until you approve the plan on the canvas.
